Hermanos Corbalán

Sixto and Juanjo Corbalán (Paraguayan harps)

The Corbalán brothers have been performing as a duo since 2007. They will be on tour in Europe this month. They say "This conformation is unusual even in Paraguay where the harp is the national symbol of folk music. In our compositions we connect different genres with their folk roots, achieving a great versatility with an actual and renewed repertoire and conferring the young feeling to the contemporary music for Paraguayan harp."

In 2014 The Scotsman wrote (of Sixto) "...mix of folk-based material, national repertoire classics and contemporary compositions, some original, took in a thrilling sweep of dynamic, textural and emotional contrasts, from bare-knuckle brassy attack to exquisite pretty playfulness, tangy jazz tones to country-blue licks, clamorous drama to shimmering serenity: his standing ovation was thoroughly earned."
