Weston Concerts 2025

We are looking forward to our season of concerts this year and hope you will save the dates for our four remaining concerts - please note that some of our concerts are not on Saturday nights. 

Dear friends

With enormous regret we have to tell you that 2025 will be our final season of live music.

Weston Music Society (promoted as Weston Concerts) has run for 25 years and put on over 100 concerts of huge variety in terms of performers and musical style.  With passing years, the rising performer costs, diminishing audiences and loss of public arts funding have made it impossible to achieve financial balance. This year we chose to engage some really well-known performers, knowing they would deplete our funds but in the hope that quality would attract bigger audiences. We have also had a hugely generous sponsorship donation to support the Piatti Quartet in October.  Nevertheless, our budget projection suggests we will run out of money at the end of the year.

It is a great privilege to enable such a variety of musical experiences, but the work of arranging, promoting and running concerts is relentless whilst the willing workforce has diminished, is ageing and increasingly facing health problems. We cannot keep this going.

The trustees have agreed that we will not plan any activity beyond 2025 and most of the trustees are likely to step down at our next AGM in October. This will have to result in the formal winding up of our charity.

If anyone is sufficiently moved to want to prevent this outcome and to take on the society and assemble a new team, we would be delighted.  Please let us know in writing (westonconcerts@gmail.com) before the AGM if this is you.

Thank you for your support over the years, and now we intend to make our final series of concerts joyous and celebratory occasions.  Buy your tickets early, invite your friends and let’s relish these remaining opportunities to be part of a wonderful, intimate musical experience.
