Graham Ross returns to conduct The Clare Consort in a joyful programme of eight-part repertoire, from Schütz’s Deutsches Magnificat and Holst’s Nunc dimittis to Gibbons’ O clap your hands together and Harris’s utterly sublime Faire is the heaven. This vocal octet of alumni from the Choir of Clare College, Cambridge also perform three of the great Bach motets – arguably some of the greatest a cappella motets ever composed – and close their programme with some sumptuous and toe-tapping arrangements of Gershwin and Irving Berlin.
